Congratulations to the 2020/2021 recipients of the Portwest sponsored Westport GAA sports bursary, who received the second instalment of their bursary recently.

This local scheme supports young Westport players in college and assists them in their efforts to become better players for their club and county. 

One of the few if not the only club in the country running this scheme, the bursaries mirror the criteria set out by Connacht Council /Croke Park and are judged by an independent selection committee which includes representatives from Mayo GAA, Connacht Council and sponsors Portwest.

Club Chairperson Charlie Lambert thanked Portwest for their continued support of the initiative and also thanked both Mayo GAA / Connacht Council for assisting in the administration of the bursary fund.
