Westport GAA AGM 2021 Report

Westport GAA held their AGM on Friday December 3rd in the Clubhouse. A moment of reflection was held in memory of all members that passed during the year with club stalwart Stephen Broderick Snr. and Club President Paddy Muldoon especially remembered. There was no president’s address but Chairperson Charlie Lambert read out a letter on behalf of the Muldoon family.

Treasurer David Fallon presented the financial accounts to members and fielded questions from the floor. Charlie Lambert then delivered the chairperson’s report where he noted the excellent work being done across all sections. Máirtín O’Reilly delivered the secretary’s report and set out the vision for the year ahead.

There were reports from each of the sections and particular praise was reserved for outgoing Hurling Chairperson Stephen Gallagher for his many years of service. Outgoing Camogie Chairperson Rosemary Smith, outgoing Bord na nÓg Chairperson Michael O’Brien and outgoing LGFA Chairperson Declan Kennedy were also thanked for their excellent work.

There was widespread support for the nomination of Chris Grady as President and Chris accepted the honour noting that they were indeed difficult shoes to fill.

Under A.O.B. Danny McLoughlin gave a very informative presentation on the progress of the new development and he presented draft plans for the new building on the site. He asked members to submit any feedback and suggestions they may have.

Danny also gave an update on the Win a House in Westport 2 Draw and publicly thanked the Kenny family for their generous donation to the development. He asked all members to really make a final push across December in their efforts to maximise the fundraising.

Chairperson Charlie Lambert closed the meeting and wished all members a very Happy Christmas.
